Why aren't my pages aren't being updated when I upload them?
|
When you upload new or changed pages, the changes should be instantaneous. If they aren't, please follow the steps below to determine the reaons:
- Be sure you are uploading your file into the public_html or www folder, either one will work as they both point to the same place.
- Internet Explorer users should press the Refresh icon, while Mozilla Firefox users should press the Reload icon. If that doesn't work, try holding down Shift + Refresh/Reload to bring up an updated version of the page.
- In your web browser, access your cPanel by typing in http:://www.domain.com/cpanel. If you are not asked to enter your username and password then your domain is still pointing to your old web hosting provider. You will need to update your nameservers.
- Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be holding the old page on their servers. They do this to save bandwidth and increase the load time of your page. To see if this is the case, you should check your website from a thirdy party website. If the site shows up with the changes made, then you can be sure the problem is that your ISP is holding the old page on their server. Contact your ISP to remove the cached page.
- If you still haven't solved the problem, go to your cPanel and click on the File Manager icon. Browse to the public_html folder, where all of your pages are stored, and look for the file that you believe you changed but isn't coming up with the new information. Click on this file to see if it is, in fact, the new file. If it's still showing the old information, then your sofware didn't upload the file or didn't upload it to the correct directory. Please check the help material for the software you used to upload that file.
